How TonyCare can help you
Just as it sounds, TonyCare would love to meet you and enjoy your company. If you like going for a walk, we would love to go with you.
How are you feeling about your Parkinson’s journey? Do you want to have a chat about that? We have been through it and would love to hear your story.
Or is the P word the very LAST thing you want to talk about! Parkinson’s this, Parkinson’s that, sick and tired of it. Yeah, we get that too.
Anything you fancy…TonyCare would love to share it with you.
Parkinson’s can have a big impact on your bowels, and it is important to ensure you have a healthy diet and fluid intake. Constipation can be very serious. It can make you really ill, have nasty side-effects, and can affect how your medication is absorbed. You should also be aware of the best times to eat according to your medication schedule. Is that all sounding like you are in hospital or at school?
You want to be independent and enjoy dining. TonyCare can help keep an eye on your diet and prepare a meal to make your day a bit easier. Maybe you’re in charge in the kitchen and just need an assistant. Either way, you can have tasty options ready for you.
Help with getting washed, dressed or using the bathroom safely. Generally making sure you feel confident to face the day or fresh and cosy for a nice rest. It can be daunting if you’ve never had help before. Take all the time you need to feel comfortable. TonyCare is proud to be a Dignity Champion – Led by the National Dignity Council. This means that TonyCare will always provide care with the 10 dignity do’s – as defined here
Living with Parkinson’s is a daily routine of medications that you cannot get away from. Whether it is three times daily, four times daily, tablets, capsules, patches or pouches – it will follow you everywhere and you will always be aware of it. So will TonyCare. Helping you to remember, and to be more positive about any wearing off or withdrawal you might experience. The side-effects can also be tough, and it is good to have support as you make records about how you are feeling and report symptoms to the right health professionals.
Are the buttons on your smartphone driving you up the wall? Or is the voice activated TV not doing what you tell it to? Certain aspects of Parkinson’s affect motor abilities and speech that affect how you may be able to use your hands and voice. We can show you tutorials to help you to understand accessibility settings on devices that you own, so that you can access them in your own time and feel more confident and independent.
TonyCare will love your pets as much as you do! Ask about any help you need around the house and garden. Talk to us about fall prevention. Why not see some days if we have time for a few exercises, maybe stretch out our hands or get those vocal cords going!
